Hi
I have a 2012 Verano with 120k miles that I believe is in a 'low power mode' according to the message in the spedo
cluster...I borrowed a obd reader from a friend and codes found were 228c and 0300....I also believe it had a message
not to drive as it could cause engine damage. the only thing I have tested is fuel pressure at the fuel rail and it
was 58-60 psi?? don't really know what it is supposed to be, just letting you know what the reading
was.....any help would be much appreciated...also, can I drive this car as it will start and run, or will doing so cause damage?

thanks

Those are incomplete codes and meaningless. Codes all start with a letter (P, B, C, U are common) followed by four characters. Scan it again and post he full codes, so we can proceed. Be sure to look for any history or pending codes, as well as those that have set the warning message.

sorry, both codes start with 'P'.......P228c and P0300.
I have already given the code reader back, the only other thing I remember was maybe a message about low power mode on the dash
and do not drive.

thanks

I think this is a GDI engine, and I have no experience with that fueling, so let's hope somebody else jumps in here soon.

How are you reading that fuel pressure, a mechanical gauge? If so, I suspect that is the pressure from the boost pump that feeds the high-pressure GDI pump. My understanding is that pressure to the injectors should be in the 1000-2000 psig range. Do you have live-data on that scanner, to check what injector pressure is reported?

I was using my snap-on 337a on the fuel rail port. I do not have access to a scanner anymore. when I retired I sold my solus and a
few other diagnostic tools. I'm limited what I have left.

Is the info in reply #5 supposed to be for this engine? It looks very wrong for GDI...

Ok, thanks for your help....I do not have a scan tool anymore. Does anyone know what scan tool would work, i.e. solus pro, ultra, etc., or maybe another type/brand, as i may be able to borrow one.

thanks

Hint, if you want to go this route (which I HIGHLY SUGGEST) dont buy the wifi BT version, go usb.

More insurance to not brick cuz of chinese SMD's and such on board.

Had much success with usb and tis 2 web is great, etc etc.

Software is standard gm crap, DDO NOT USE THE CD THUMB DRIVE PROVIDED.

If you show inter4est, I will upload files to easy the crack files

dang it, did it again.

Ok, thanks for the replies on this. I think I might just take it somewhere to get it diagnosed.
My question is going to be Is it ok to drive?...the shop I will take it to is probably 20 miles away
from me and I believe in the message center it said something about engine power reduced,
do not drive, and service stabl link...Would it still be ok to drive it to the shop/

thanks
