Hi dudes! Im posting here because the heavy truck area does not respond. So i am hoping someone knows about heavy trucks here.

Truck shifts okay from 1-2nd gear but once i get to drive and overdrive the truck jerks and doesnt shift until i let up on the pedal a bit. Only then it shifts. If i keep my foot on pedal or add more pedal, it just chokes out and will die out until i let go the pedal a bit. I know the tranny is good. I got some egr codes. One says egr low flow. Would an egr cause this?

I would suggest that you disable the EGR temporarily by removing a vacuum line (and plug it) or disconnect the wires if it is an electrically actuated design, and test drive to see if it runs and shifts differently.

Okay, i took it apart. The egr has been deleted. That explains the egr codes. The air filter is also very plugged.

What does the trans use to decide when to shift? Vacuum line? Mechanical rod or cable? Electronic?

Have you had a mechanic check it?
