growling ram 3500

    Please fill out the following to ask a question.

    MAKE: ram
    MODEL: 3500
    YEAR: 2011
    MILES: 141,280km
    ENGINE: 6.7
    DESCRIBE ISSUE....bearing type growl except when coasting or in 4x4, oil in rear diff and t-case is dark but no filings, ran it in 4x4 on hoist and cant hear anything

    doing noises on the net is tough BUT will add some thoughts.
    did you check the front diff - clean fluid might be a start.
    Truck is stock - tire size and not lifted.

    all stock, oils good

    Trying to get this topic going -
    any difference in noise - turning or driving straight?
    Tire wear normal - nothing weird - cupping extreme wear inside or outside?
    there are no "C" codes?

    Same noise side to side on road, wheel brngs are good. Can now hear noise at all times above 20km, even in 2wd. Only codes were abs and t-case but that went away with new rear wheel speed sensor. All oils are now good, no excessive metal in anything

    Long shot....Front prop shaft rattles/growls when it is not spinning, quiet when it is spinning.

    sound like its in the transmission or t-case. they will take it to a dealer now, thanx for the help
