Air bag wiring connections 2000 Lincoln Town Car
« on: July 23, 2007, 11:41:54 AM »
I have had an intermittent problem with my air bag warning light coming on. In the past, I've managed to get the light to go off by playing around with the difficult-to-reach wiring connections under the driver and front passenger seats. There are several connectors under there, and I have no idea which one(s) are related to the air bag system, nor do I know which side (passenger versus driver) is the culprit. Can someone give me more information about which of these many multi-wire connectors contain the connections for the air bags?

Also, must the seats be removed to work with these?

I feel you are very foolish for fooling around with a system you claim to know nothing about.  I will say this much however, by playing with those wires you can inadvertly trigger both air bags, which at least will be very expensive, and at most, deadly.  Take it to your dealer, the required equipment to test these systems cost more than what your car is worth.

I sincerely apologize for not more thoroughly reading the forum rules.

My mechanic (nondealor) says the trouble code indicates a driver door resistance is high. He said this could cause the bag to activate.

I have scheduled a visit to the dealer tomorrow to fix this.

What will likely be the cause and the remedy?

Please do not ask.
This is a no ask no tell deal. :)
Forum rules do not alow us to talk about SIR bags.
OEM parts only hurt one time Crunch said that.
Cheap after market stuff will bite you many times. My brother in law is learning that the hard way.
