I read in one place that the low/rev should not be reused.
In another, all tapered snap rings should not be reused.
One other stated, the heavy, eyed snap rings should not be reused.

Do you never reuse any snap ring?

Thank you

The Answer.

Tapered snap rings thinner than .070" and the Low/Rev piston snap ring are weakened when removed and should not be reused.

My opinion is that if a snap-ring can be installed without damaging it, then it can also be removed without damage.  However, in general, it is much easier to over-stretch an external ring than an internal one; so I am more likely to replace an external.  And snap-rings are pretty cheap, if in doubt at all, then use new... just for the peace-of-mind.
