Anyone ever run into this? motor had a loose cover and blown gasket and was noisy and ran rough. Retimed it and assembled and it ran great, no noises. A week later tractor won't crank without removeing plug. Can't seem to find any kind of compreeion release in the h.tm, any ideas?

I'm curious about this.  When you refer to "pulling a plug", I assume it is a spark-plug.  Why in the world would you want to release the compression?  To get some momentum of the engine innards due to a bad starter?  That sure seems what the problem is; the starter system, not "too much compression"!  PS: what is an "h.tm"?

Starter was sent out and checked out fine. The H.T.M is the 0.E.M information on that particular motor.

OK; if all the starter system is working correctly, then I would suspect over-advanced ignition timing at starting speed.
