I was looking at a 2000 Ford Windstar that was leaking trans fluid around the Torque Converter seal.  When the car is cold it does not leak when it is hot is leak alot of fluid.  Is this due to the fluid becoming thin with heat or building pressure in the trans.  Are there any other issues to be aware of with before I pull the trans and change the seal and bushing. thanks

No.

There are issues with the quality/durability of the seal itself.  I haven't worked on any transmissions since '05 but back then the problem was very prevalent and it was always the "Light Gray" colored seals (talking about the color of the rubber part of the seal).  Even after the problem was well known Ford continued to sell that seal . . . with the same results.  Contact a transmission shop and purchase a better quality seal from them.  If I recall correctly we were using a black or dark blue colored seal.  The bushing is inside the converter hub and usually does not require replacement to correct the leak.   If the bushing is bad you have other serious issues to deal with.
