I have a 2001 PathFinder which I purchased about a year ago - have only had to replace an 02 sensor - has been an awesome fun to drive vehicle.  Sitting on 103,000 miles.  Been running fine - tried to start the other day and no dice!  It turns over fine but won't "kick in".  Did start properly one try but almost immediately stalled out.  4WD - don't know if that matters?  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Sounds like it might be a fuel problem...Is there fuel in the tank?...Can you hear the fuel pump run when you first turn the key on?..You might try spraying some carb cleaner in the intake and see if it starts...if it does you know it is a fuel problem...Jim

Thanks Jim!  There is probably 1/4 tank - and where would I find the "intake" - I'm such a girl.  I sometimes worry about the ethanol they are now putting in the gas - I only drive about 2 miles a day back and forth to work...Thanks!

Look for the tube that goes from the air filter box to the intake...you should be able to loosen it a little and spray the carb cleaner in there and see if it starts...Jim

Here is a diagram under the hood...you can see the round black(well it is not black in the pic,but it is) tube that goes from where the air filter is to the throttle body...you can take that tube loose a little and spray carb cleaner in it...Jim.....Well....it won't let me upload diagrams right now, but I will when I can....

OK so I came to the realization that this problem is bigger than me!  Had vehicle towed to my mechanics shop Wednesday and heard back from him that it seems to be some kind of issue with the key or the security system - unfortunately the code that is being spit out hasn't been released to aftermarket....So....he is  having to have it sent to Nissan dealer....we'll see what happens!

Hi Jim.  Thanks for the follow through!  Picked it up Monday.  Turned out to be something called an immobilizer?  Mechanic had to bring it to Nissan Dealer to have keys re-programmed.  She starts right up now!  In the big picture a $482 repair of which $60 in towing is reiumbursable through AllState was a blessing in disguise compared to what it could have been!  I really love to drive this vehicle - perfect size - but not urban assault vehicle.  Now if I could just understand the 4-wheel drive....Huh?  Have a great afternoon - Eileen
