Hi gang, Working on a 2005 IHC 4400 w/ DT-466 and Allison World trans. Has a hyd. bucket mounted. Came in for normal service. Pressure washed the boom. Truck sat for 2 days. Started and moved to our Hydraulic Shop lot. Went to bring in next day, no crank. Huh? Trans touch pad not lighting up, Trans warn light stays lit on dash after gauge check. Don't have diag. software, just Diamond logic showing paramaters. Have checked power leads, grounds. Have swapped 4 of 5 modules and no change. Driving me nuts, can't find any reference to this problem on the net. Hoping brothers/ sisters (Hi Connie) can lend a hand and get me started in the right direction.

Thanks much!

Bob

Hello Brother Grin You said that the unit was power washed. So is it possible that some moisture may have found its way into the connectors for the transmission ? I would unplug each of them with the key in the off position. Spray the pins inside with a bit of brake clean. The brake clean also works as an electrical part cleaner also. Shake the connector a but to get the excess out & maybe wear some safety glasses so you don't get any in your eyes. If you can say work from all the connectors on the trans & back you may have it cured. Also check for good eyelet connectors & good fuses @ the batteries. It is probably a simple fix, but you just have to not give up to find it. post back with your fix.

Got pulled off this for another job last night. Did check for water in all connectors, and applied dielectric grease to all. I know it has to be something simple! Truck has been sitting inside for 4 days now. Will start from scratch tonight, rechecking my steps. Thanks for the reply!

Yes, so i hope your problem is solved. I work for a large fleet which has alot of highway tractors with Eaton Automatic trans. The roadsalt also finds its way into the connectors & everywhere else & causes havoc. The display may even flash F for fail I am guessing. We also work back in the fifties with no code readers. I guess they think we are supposed to be magical as well  Rolling on the floor

Nope, still not It is fixed!, took off today to fix a broken window on our trailer at our camp. Allison software (DOC) is telling me look at fuses in the VIM (Vehicle Interface Module ? i'm guessing) But no one here knows where on earth (or the truck) is is located. So, tomorrow I will trudge on to try to find this illusive box. By the way, no lights on the touch pad at all. no fail, no cat eyes, nothing. not getting any power to the touch pad connector.

Thanks for the reply, will let all know when I know something!

Did you check the fuses at the battery like BigRig asked? Also a couple of relays on the firewall that can cause a no start problem. HTH Greasemonkey Smiley

Let us help you. All we need is a little information. Make, Model,Year and Engine size. What is the problem you are having? When does it happen? Are there any codes? Are any warning lights on, and if there is which ones?  Recent repairs would be nice. Any abnormal noises, smells, leaks? The more information the better to help you with your problem. Hope that we can help you. And if we have make a donation to this site to keep it up and running. So we can help you in the future. Greasemonkey Smiley

Thanks For the reply Greasmonkey! Yep, checked and double checked all fuses, relays at firewall. Today, found the 12 volt feed for the touch pad has no power. Traced it out to the bulkhead so far, changes color from pink to tan. made a temp. jumper to feed the touchpad to make it mobile to save bay space during the day. ( I work night) Will continue to trace on Monday. Don't have a schematic that shows the path from the trans. module to the touchpad. (I have 12 volts coming out of the module.) It's lost somewhere in the loom, I just need to find it!
Thanks again for the replies guys.
Will keep you informed.

Hello again Brother ! If you don't have a schematic it may help to read the numbers off of the wires themselves. In case you have 2 or more wires of the same color. Use a rag with water to clean off & write down the color, number such as GRY-15 & maybe where the wire comes & goes to. Don't use brake clean instead of water as it may dissolve the wire numbers & then you will have fun. It was quite smart of you though to temp jumper it & power up the keypad. Make sure it gets It is fixed! though & not have a power wire fall off & short something out. I think you are on your way to solving it. Be like Rocky & don't give up !
